Proprietors' History - Rhett & Kym English
Dance Gallery proprietors, husband & wife team Rhett & Kym English commenced dancing in Adelaide at around 9 years of age. Starting in children's social group classes, they discovered their love for dance at an early age, leading them both to competitive Dancesport careers.
With different partners over the years between them, Rhett & Kym have won just about every South Australian title and been champions in all sections and grades from Juvenile (Under 13s) to Adult A Grade, picking up interstate and national titles along the way.
Rhett & Kym's partnership commenced in 1989 with the decision to base themselves in London for extensive training with the world's best coaches. After years of blood, sweat and tears dancing their way around Europe, Rhett & Kym returned home in 1992 to embark on a Professional career. This has seen them become National Australian Professional Rising Star Champions, South Pacific Finalists, 4 years' Australasian Representatives and 9 times undefeated South Australian Professional Champions from 1992 until their retirement from the competitive arena in 1995 to start a family.
1993 was the year Rhett & Kym were handed the reins of a long-established studio in Torrensville, giving it the new name 'Dance Gallery' to signify its new proprietors and new beginning. Since then, Rhett & Kym along with a strong, talented & experienced teaching staff, have been devoted to passing on their wealth of international knowledge and experience to others.
Since the early 1990s, Rhett & Kym have been successful in training more State Champions in Juvenile, Junior, Adult and Masters than any other professional Dancesport coaches in the modern era. Not only this, but also helping so many people from 7 years old to 70 years young take those all-important first steps to learn to dance - just for the fun of it!
